About The Role

As an Engineering Manager at Alta, you will leverage your full-stack expertise within a fast-paced, evolving engineering environment, while playing a key role in strengthening our presence in Indonesia. You will be deeply embedded within a broader global team at the forefront of financial innovation, working across technologies such as blockchain, DeFi, API-driven architectures, serverless infrastructure, data pipelines, modern front-end frameworks, and no-code platforms.

At Alta, we are building a suite of platforms that form the backbone of our operations—from a data-rich brokerage platform for alternative investments, to a robust back-office system integrating KYC, payments, and settlements, as well as a digital-first exchange and scalable custody solutions for tokenized assets. As an Engineering Manager, you will be instrumental in shaping and scaling these systems while ensuring they meet both global standards and regional needs.

This role goes beyond hands-on development. You will act as a key technical leader within the Indonesia team—driving architectural decisions, guiding implementation, and translating complex business requirements into scalable, secure solutions. You will partner closely with product, data, and operations teams, while mentoring engineers and contributing to building a strong, high-performing local team.

We move quickly, but with discipline. Security, privacy, and reliability are critical across everything we build, and you will play a key role in upholding these standards. Just as importantly, you will help foster a culture of clear communication, ownership, and continuous improvement within the team.

The sorts of things you’ll be doing:

• Contribute as a hands-on engineer while acting as a technical advisor and thought partner to the Indonesia team
• Manage and participate in code reviews to uphold strong engineering standards and best practices
• Own end-to-end delivery of features, from planning through to release
• Support the evolution of our infrastructure, including CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices
• Collaborate closely with the Data team to refine and scale data models that support our business
• Strengthen automated testing, security, and reliability across our systems
• Stay up to date with industry trends and drive the adoption of relevant tools and best practices within the team

As our Engineering Manager, we know you’ll be doing significant learning on the job. That said, we’re hoping you’ll bring:‍

• 6–10 years of software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in one or more object-oriented and/or functional programming languages (e.g. JavaScript/Node.js, Ruby on Rails, Python), with the ability to adapt across technologies
• Proven experience designing and building scalable, secure, cloud-native applications
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and writing maintainable, testable code (TDD principles are a plus)
• Hands-on experience with source control systems such as GitHub or Bitbucket in a collaborative team environment
• Demonstrated ability to lead constructive code reviews and set a high bar for code quality
• Solid understanding of data modeling across both relational and non-relational databases
• Familiarity with service-oriented architectures and API-driven system design

Beyond the technology, we also hope you’ve got some interest in:

• Financial services, particularly the investment space
• Digitized and decentralized finance (DeFi), and all the new financial products and possibilities that come with these innovations (cryptocurrencies, tokenized assets, NFTs, etc.)
• An appreciation for experimentation and designing systems/processes that accommodate business and technical agility
• Food! We talk about it a lot :)
