About the role:

‍

As a QA Automation Engineer at Alta you’ll be helping to drive the coverage, efficiency and effectiveness of our automation testing across all of the platforms in our private markets ecosystem. Rather than simply writing test code, you’ll be deeply and collaboratively integrated with your peers in engineering, product and design to promote and advise on the “QA mindset”, ensuring that everyone on the team is thinking about key edge cases from planning through to release.

This role spans all of our three teams and covers automation strategy for multiple API-driven platforms, with a smaller focus on front-end applications. At present we make use of Cypress, paralleling significant use of JavaScript throughout our platforms. As we are early in our automation journey, you’ll have the opportunity to help guide how our automation infrastructure integrates with our coded platforms (Node/Python/MySQL/React/GCP/AWS).

We’re a supportive, social, and entrepreneurial team of former investment bankers, technologists and strategists. Clear, honest communication is key to everything we do. This role will be based in our Mumbai, India office.

The sorts of things you’ll be doing:

‍

• Working both independently and with our small but growing QA team to design and implement test cases feature-by-feature
• Document and maintain test case repositories for our production applications.
• Write robust automated tests and ensuring their compatibility with our CI/CD pipelines
• Being a key stakeholder and contributor in the ongoing development of our automation-integrated deployment pipelines
• Helping us move to continuous deployment by automating some of the manual work
• Create automation frameworks and overall strategy to automate across multiple products included detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
• Maximize test coverage for the most critical features of the system; 
• Ensure engineering teams release quality products that meet the defined acceptance criteria
• Work with development teams to plan, implement, and track end-to-end automation activities
• Expressing your ideas, opinions and feedback on our tech stack, tooling and culture to ensure we’re always improving as a technology team and as a company

As our QA Automation Engineer, we know you’ll be doing significant learning on the job. That said, we’re hoping from Day 1 you’ll bring:

‍

• At least 3 years of experience in QA Automation 
• Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes
• A proactive risk based mindset to all the work that goes into production
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure environment
• Self-starter, able to take the initiative and able to spot and resolve issues promptly
• Experience with automated test approaches and discerning when and which to use (preferably Cypress)
• Experience in day-to-day operations of a quality assurance and test environment with the ability to explain automation concepts to cross functional teams, requiring effective communication skills.
• Experience with performance and security testing is a plus.
